We just completed a full immersion 6 day KAYAK EXPLORE course at the CVC Sailing School (Caprera Island – Archipelago di La Maddalena – Sardinia). Topics were: personal skills, leadership, incident management, sea safety, sea survival, navigation & piloting, night navigation all finalized to prepare a candidate to paddle in a led group in conditions up to force 5 Beaufort. We had unusually calm conditions for Sardinia in this season and had to train all modules in especially calm conditions. However dislocated shoulder, lost hatch cover and flooded kayak, night navigation lost person, hypothermic kayaker, rock landing and launching, open water navigation and a variety of incidents and tows (all set up with knots) have been practised.
