Scouting the Lake Skadar
5 days scouting the Lake Skadar in Montenegro. We are organizing to come back and further explore this awesome lake next spring. In November we will put the dates on our calendar. Please write or call if you want to join!
You will paddle in an unreal silence, with the Balcans as a 360° backdrop and just the occasional noise of fishes and birds catching their food.
The lake’s surface, 6 m above sea level, can vary between 370 and 530 km2, of which 2/3 is in Montenegro. The Lake is one of the largest bird reserves in Europe, having 270 bird species, among which are some of the last pelicans in Europe. Lake Skadar also contains habitats of seagulls and herons and is abundant in fish (34 native fish species), especially in carp, bleak and eel.
